Please provide a brief overview of your journey in the energy industry that led to your current role? What are some key achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of?
I am a qualified social worker turned cleantech and energy entrepreneur as well as a passionate advocate for sustainable mobility and climate innovation in Africa. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Advanced Air Mobility Management. My journey began with a vision to accelerate Namibia’s transition to sustainable mobility. My role is to align our mission with environmental sustainability and to champion the innovation that drives us forward, ensuring that we contribute to a greener future while meeting our clients’ demands for reliable EV charging.
Key milestones include being selected as a Remarkable Young Voice in Transport – 30 Under 30 by TUMI, representing Namibia the Ford Philanthropy Mobility Fellowship 2025, representing Namibia in the De Beers Trailblazers 2025 through WomHub and also selected for the first cohort of the Capacity-Building Program for Women Energy Entrepreneurs under the Energizing Women to Advance the Energy Transition in SADC Region Project by SACREEE and GWNET.
The energy industry is known for its complexities. What were some significant challenges you faced along the way, and how did you navigate through them to achieve your goals?
The biggest challenge has been entering a market with limited EV adoption and infrastructure. We navigated this by building strategic partnerships with global EV manufacturers, renewable energy providers, and local municipalities, while educating stakeholders about the economic and environmental benefits of EVs.
What advice would you give to young women aspiring to excel in the energy sector? Are there any specific strategies or mindsets that helped you overcome obstacles and reach your current position?
Embrace continuous learning, build a strong network, and don’t shy away from pioneering new solutions in uncharted markets. Believe in your vision, but be adaptable in your approach.
A career in energy can be demanding. Could you describe a typical day in your life?
My day starts with reviewing project updates from our engineering and partnerships teams, followed by strategy meetings with stakeholders and potential collaborators. I also dedicate time to mentorship, community outreach, and policy discussions to advance sustainable transport.
Looking ahead, what changes or advancements do you hope to see in the energy sector? How do you envision your role in shaping that future?
I envision Africa leading in localized, renewable-powered EV charging solutions. I aim to position myself as a catalyst for that shift, scaling infrastructure and fostering inclusive access to clean mobility for all communities.
