
Folarin is currently Vice President Africa at ION. ION is a service company, which focuses on providing powerful data-driven solutions to the oil and gas industry. He has approximately 20 years work experience spanning both oil and gas and investment banking. More recently and in his current role he has acted as commercial lead, negotiator and project developer for multiple upstream projects across Africa covering Mauritania, Morocco, Ghana, Mozambique, Kenya, Angola and Nigeria to name a few. In addition to being pivotal to African new business development and strategy for his firm he has been involved over the years in various forms in structuring new deals and advising companies on their exploration and A&D strategy at ION as well as Polarcus and TGS.
His previous roles include an Associate role at investment bank Goldman Sachs as well as technical roles as a geophysicist at CGG and Shell. His broad skill sets and knowledge in energy, African business and diplomacy in addition to his unique experience within financial services gas developed him into an all-rounded professional with unique technical acumen and business skills. He holds an MSc with a Distinction in Taught Course in Marine Geoscience from the University of Wales, a Post Graduate Degree in Global Business from Said Business School and a BSc in Applied Geophysics.
